Make your animation basics strong
If you were an animation student or a self-learner you must have done ball bouncing animation once in your lifetime be it in 2D/3D. You may know that this ball bouncing has principles of animation like squash and stretch, Slow in and slow out, pose to pose and straight ahead action, Arcs and if you have done a ball bouncing with a tail then follow through and overlapping action and secondary action.
But did you know it also taught us other aspects of animation as well?
Aspects of weight, balance, physics and gravity. These aspects are very important for animation and this same ball bouncing animation can help you to create a creature animation. If you know your ball bouncing well then your creature animation will be good as well.
If you compare a ball bouncing and a hop of any creature you will find the similarities. Both have a slow in and slow out and has the same arc. You might have known this before but forgotten to apply it while doing a creature animation. So next time your senior or anyone asks you to do a ball bouncing do not hesitate to do it. You must apply your knowledge and skills to your animation.
